There has been a real growth in the establishment of non-profit organizations that use ‘sport for development’, sport to bring diverse communities together and also ‘sport for peace’ organizations in high conflict areas of the world. This minor will help prepare students to work for organizations dedicated to using sports for development, community building and peace. It provides students with a cross section of courses in sport management and conflict resolution. Courses in sport management frame the sports industry in a philosophical, ethical, cultural and business context. Conflict resolution courses will introduce students to foundational concepts in the study of human conflict, the analysis of conflict and problem solving techniques for helping to resolve conflict.

This is an interdisciplinary minor offered by the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution and the School of Sport, Recreation and Tourism Management.
