The School of Computing consists of the departments of Computer Science, Information Sciences and Technology, and Statistics.
Today, not only are computing devices pervasive in society, but computational methods are used in almost every field of scholarly endeavor ranging from the arts and humanities to the physical sciences and engineering, as well as every sector of industry and government.
The mission of the School is to lead in development of contemporary computing education programs for students enrolled in the School and in support of majors and programs throughout the university; to catalyze and advance state-of-the-art research and scholarship in computing and in related domains within and across all of Mason’s academic units; to grow and accelerate the broader impact of computing advances through entrepreneurship, innovation, and civic engagement; and to elevate computing as a strategic differentiator for Mason by supporting its integration into programs across the university through partnerships and collaborations.
