The Volgenau School of Engineering consists of the departments of Bioengineering, Cyber Security Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering and Operations Research, and Civil, Environmental, and Infrastructure Engineering. It is also home to the multidisciplinary MS program in Data Analytics Engineering. 

The mission of the School is to provide a transformative learning experience that yields visionary stewards of society who are prepared to discover solutions to complex global challenges and make the world safer, cleaner, and more prosperous;  to lead development of contemporary engineering education programs; to catalyze and advance state-of-the-art research and scholarship in engineering; and to grow and accelerate the broader impact of engineering advances through entrepreneurship, innovation, and civic engagement. 

VSE faculty are engaged educators who lead high-impact research in the areas of sustainability, big data, cybersecurity, robotics and artificial intelligence, and healthcare. These existing and emerging areas of expertise span departmental and disciplinary boundaries and capture the depth and breadth of our faculty and student’s scholarly activity.
