Concentration in Reading Specialist (K-12)
This concentration, a state-approved (Virginia) sequence of courses leading to reading specialist licensure, is designed for teachers who have a master's degree. Coursework includes foundational knowledge, instructional and assessment strategies for individuals and groups, and preparation as a literacy coach and staff developer. Licensure also requires a master's degree, passing the state licensing exam, and three years of teaching under contract.

Students enrolled in this program must earn a B- or higher in all coursework.
