The minor in French provides students with the components of a well-rounded education in French: knowledge of the language (through conversation, composition, and grammar) combined with the study of literature and civilization.

Policies

Eight credits of coursework must be unique to the minor and students must complete 18 credits at the 300-level or above with a minimum grade of 2.00 in each course. For policies governing all minors, see AP.5.3.4 Minors.

This may be chosen from FREN 325 Major French Writers (Topic Varies) (Mason Core) or FREN 329 Problems of Western Civilization in French Literature (Mason Core), or from a FRLN or non-MCL course with approval. Students choose electives in consultation with an advisor.
